Google AdSenseの場合には、その料金の内容が明確に提示されていませんが、噂では20〜30程度をクライアントに支払い、マーチャントからの収入の70〜80％がGoogleの儲けだといわれています。
今回Six Apartと提携した、Kanoodleはコンテンツの内容に応じて適切な広告を表示するという点がGoogle AdSenseと似ているが、広告料金の支払い方も50：50とされて明瞭にするなどGoogle AdSenseとの差別化を進めており、米大手メディアにも採用されているそうです。
現在は英語のみでサービスを展開している。今回の提携によりKanoodleでは、TypePad加入者が簡単にKanoodleの広告を掲載できる仕組みを2005年第1四半期までに提供したいとしている。
提携についてSix ApartのAndrew L.Anker上級副社長は、「TypePadの加入者はWeb上で最も革新的なコンテンツを創造しており、我々は業界リーダーとの提携を通して追加サービスを提供することに専念している。Kanoodleは、適性と現金を生み出す能力においてSix Apartと我々の顧客が要求するレベルに達していることを実証している」とコメントしている。
Google AdSenseの“ライバル”が中小サイト向けにもターゲット広告開始
米Kanoodleは5日、コンテンツにターゲットを絞った広告を表示するサービス「BrightAds」を中小規模サイトでも利用できるようにサービス範囲を広げたと発表した。これまでBrightAdsは、CBS Marketwatch、MSNBC.com、USAToday.comなどの大手サイトでしか表示されていなかった。
Kanoodleのサービスは、表示されているコンテンツの内容に合わせたテキスト広告を表示するもの。コンテンツに現われる“キーワード”ではなく、コンテンツが該当する“トピック”に応じて広告を表示するため、他社のコンテンツターゲット広告よりもクリック率が高くなるとKanoodleでは主張している。
Kanoodleは、Google AdSenseに似ていることから、その“ライバル”として注目されている。特にコンテンツサイトに支払われる金額が広告料金の50％と明記されているため、コンテンツサイトの取り分の比率が不明瞭なGoogleと異なっている点が大きい。このほか、支払いが小切手ではなく、メール支払いサービスのPayPalで行なわれること、広告表示領域に柔軟性があることなど、Google AdSenseにないメリットに早くから注目が集まっていた。
5日以降、KanoodleのWebサイトで必要事項を登録することで広告表示の申し込みを行うことが可能となった。ただし、実際にサービスを受けられるのは、審査を経てからとなる。また、残念ながらこのサービスはすべて英語で提供されており、英語の広告を対象としていることに注意が必要だ。
